Real Wedding: Mayard-Steponaitis

Meet Andrea Mayard. A personal trainer and former Texas Tech cheerleader, Andrea has a passion for life. From the moment we met with her to discuss her wedding vision, we could feel it – and could not help but get caught up with her! When the chemistry with a client is great, it makes the planning process even more wonderful…and what a wonderful time we had working with Andrea and Glenn!
With active, busy work schedules often consisting of odd hours, both Andrea and Glenn decided three years ago to go out on an internet limb in an effort to find someone special. That fortuitous trial of online dating led to an incredible first date that has brought them to their happily ever after.
After hearing about a dramatic hot air balloon sunset proposal with an unexpected funny ending in a pitch-dark isolated cornfield, we learned three things about this fantastic couple. We then knew that Andrea and Glenn have a true joie de vivre, they find a way to always have fun (no matter the circumstances!) and this dynamic duo doesn’t do anything small! So we hit the ground running, planning their fabulously elegant yet eclectic, surprise-filled wedding!

The couple really wanted an outdoor ceremony that felt beautiful and natural, but also wanted the ceremony and reception in one location. The fabulous Rosewood Crescent fit the bill, especially once we started planning out the design of the event. We settled on a color palette of shades of purples and whites. Andrea wanted to include some modern vintage touches, so we accomplished that with her lace gown and birdcage veil, vintage photo charms on her bouquet, a rustic ceremony backdrop and chandeliers everywhere.

Andrea and Glenn are wine lovers so we found ways to work that into the theme and design. We used Andrea’s wine bottle candle holders as part the décor on her guest tables, while grapes and grapevines figured heavily in the floral design. And of course, their oenophilia also partly inspired the purple-hued color palette. A few other nods to their love of vino included the rustic, Tuscan-style pots used for some of their centerpieces and their signature cocktail, The Tuscan Kiss.

Right away, we learned that the Mayard-Steponaitis household was going to be “a house divided” over Glenn’s Texas Longhorn roots and Andrea’s Texas Tech pedigree, so we planned some good natured competition between the two.

Why, yes. Yes, that is a bride stunting. In. Her. Wedding. Dress. Seriously! We die! This was so fun and one of our favorite parts of the evening. The couple’s school fight songs played a role in their grand entrance, and it went a little something like this: The couple entered to Glenn’s UT Fight Song playing – which was then trumped by a jaw-dropping performance by Andrea and her Texas Tech alumni cheerleader friends! The guests were all blown away by this super-fun surprise, and it really got the crowd excited to see what the rest of the evening would hold.
Another wish high on the couple’s list was for the reception to be an incredibly fun party, one that their friends and family would remember for years to come. Andrea told us that we completely nailed it, and she was thrilled that for nearly the whole evening, not a single soul of their 150 guests was sitting. The incredible Emerald City Band had the dance floor packed the entire night. In fact, pretty much the only time guests were sitting was to enjoy their luscious steak and salmon duo plate with parmesan mashed potatoes, compliments of the Crescent’s talented chef. We loved Andrea’s description of dinner: “It felt like we were at a 5-star restaurant watching a concert!”

We sincerely could go on about this wedding; it definitely goes down in our books as one of our favorites. Here are a few more fun details we just have to share:
